The Role: Senior Process Engineer

Yama is hiring its first key team member to bring our technology to life.

As Senior Process Engineer, you’ll lead the FEED study and project management for a 1-tonne/day DAC pilot plant (budget: $3-5M), ensuring delivery by early 2026. You will collaborate with external partners, including electrochemical suppliers, air contactor manufacturers, and engineering contractors, to scale our DAC technology from TRL 4 to TRL 5/6 in the first year and towards TRL 8 in subsequent years.

Reporting to the CTO, you will play a critical role in assembling and scaling Yama’s innovative process.

Key Responsibilities

• Pilot Project Leadership:
  • Oversee planning, budget, and execution of the pilot plant project.
  • Define project strategy and manage internal and external resources.
• Process Design & Development:
  • Conduct FEED studies, including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
  • Manage supplier contracts and ensure equipment delivery on budget and schedule.
  • Supervise external contractors during pilot assembly.
• Modeling & Scale-Up:
  • Develop process models with the R&D team, transitioning to tools like AspenPlus.
  • Define and implement scale-up strategies, integrating R&D insights.

What You Bring

• Experience:
  • 6+ years in chemical process engineering and/or project management.
  • Proven track record in pilot or industrial project execution from concept to commissioning.
  • Hands-on experience with electrodialysis, gas-liquid systems, or compression technologies.
  • Familiarity with hazard and risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP, FMEA).
• Skills:
  • Strong technical and project management abilities.
  • Proficiency in tools like Notion, Asana, and process modeling software (a plus).
  • Fluent in English; French is an advantage.
